What's Your Suggestion?

I am looking to purchase a domain name. I need something people can remember, spell, is "catchy" and/or speaks to the topics of my books (infertility, loss, fruit of the Spirit, hope, motherhood, illness, heartache, grace, various Biblical heroes like Hannah, Job, Paul). Any suggestions or ideas? I like jennifer.saake but wonder if the spelling of our last name will become an issue? Most domains of my actual book titles are already taken (like the StrokeOfGrace domain, though I could still use these words with hyphenation between them or adding on the word "book" at the end like I did with HannahsHopeBook.com), plus you need a new one for each project and I'm looking for something I could list all books, blogs and any future affiliated projects and ministries under.

Maybe something with my used-around-the-internet handle of InfertilityMom, but will that be confusing for people that don't know my background? I've used Jenni's Journal for several projects over the years, so something along those lines might work. I was thinking maybe something alone the lines of ChronicallyTrustingChrist but that is LONG for a domain name. I also love roses, and themes of harvest, gardening and growth. Someone suggested something butterfly related (cocoon, chrysalis (<---- already="" and="" anything="" but="" can="" etc="" find="" flight="" give="" go.="" hard="" i="" ideas="" like="" me="" not="" ready.="" really="" short="" simple="" soaring="" span="" spell="" t="" taken="" takes="" that="" to="" transformation="" wing="" wings="" word="" your="">

Root

Romans 15:13 has been a favorite verse of mine for years now, combining hope, joy and peace all in the person of Christ, but I had never noticed the context before, that this is really a "Christmas verse". Read it for yourself.

12 And again, Isaiah says,“The Root of Jesse will spring up,    one who will arise to rule over the nations;    in him the Gentiles will hope.”[f]13 May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.

Feeling Like An Egg

A little snippet from my rough draft:

I've always struggled with how what the devil intends for our harm, God not only USES, but the Bible says, in Joseph's story, God actually INTENDS for our good. Then yesterday my 8-year-old was recounting when we had taken him out to a fancy, grill-at-your-table Japanese place earlier in the year. The chef asked him to "juggle" raw eggs, knowing full well what would happen. Had he tried to juggle them over my floor, he would have gotten in trouble. But when the chef instructed him to juggle them over his grill, the inevitable crash of scrambled eggs was clearly part of his skillful recipe for our meal. Yes, it is easy to question when all we can see is the midst of the mess! So glad God not only sees, but designs, the bigger picture! - (c) Jennifer Saake, 2014

God's Timing

My manuscript for Hannah's Hope was due to the publisher 10 years ago today! (I know, because this is our 22nd wedding anniversary, that was our 12th.) I had no idea then that I would even write another book at all, and once I realized that was God's call, never dreamed I wouldn't have a second manuscript to a publisher yet. God's timing...

(in)Hope

My sweet friend, Shelly, and I are co-hosting another season of the (in)Courager email / Facebook group for women with chronic illnesses. If this describes you, we would so love to have you join us this semester at (in)Hope. But if you are not looking for a small chronic illness community, please check out any of the 70 other, free, safe, amazing, women-only communities over at (in)Courage, only accepting new member this week, and asking for a participation commitment just until July 4. It is so wonderful to exchange messages and ideas and love with a small group of ladies who really "get it" about the unique challenges of your life. So single or married, infertile or empty nester, professional Mommy or fitting professional life around motherhood, military, struggling with anything from depression to cancer, wanting to hone the craft of writing, there is a special group just quivering with joy to welcome you into their "family" this week. Won't you please, join us! #incouragers #inHope #inCourage

Judas and Peter

I posted this (and more) over on my stroke recovery blog, Stroke Of Grace, today, but wanted to share it here as well.

I've been doing some pondering on Peter and Judas. Both denied Christ. Both were eventually remorseful. One was reinstated and became the human man upon whom Christ would establish his church, the other committed suicide and was told it would be better if he had never been born. What was the difference? What of forgiveness? Shouldn't the impartial love of Jesus have extended the same grace toward both men?

I think the difference is, while they were both remorseful, feeling the weight of guilt and the anguish of denying Christ, only one was repentant and believed/proclaimed that Jesus is who He says He is (God in flesh, with the power to forgive/erase sin and redeem lives). Like the thief nailed to the cross on Jesus' right side, it was in this act of believing, of trusting that Jesus was more than just a "good man" (or "innocent man" as Judas confessed too late) but that He is God, that made all the difference!
But my life is worth nothing to me unless I use it for finishing the work assigned me by the Lord Jesus—the work of telling others the Good News about the wonderful grace of God. - Acts 17:24

The Lord Is My Banner

I would like to introduce you to a friend of mine, Diane Bailey, from dianewbailey.net. She has become an amazing encourager, someone that truly points to harvestable Truth and Hope in my life, so I'm thrilled to be teaming up with her to launch a new series on her blog today! (I apologize for the formatting issues in today's post. After several hours of striving to repair all these glitches, I've concluded that Blogger and I just aren't playing well together today! Please don't let my technical issues keep you from taking a couple moments to soak up the blessing of Diane's words!) Welcome, Diane! Thank you for letting me share your thoughts. I pray my readers are as deeply blessed as I am.

I’m beginning a new series on this blog.  For the next few weeks I’ll post a name of God offer this blog as a place for prayer.

Our name of God today is Jehovah-Nissi, The Lord Is My Banner.

We have all seen the famous sculpture of the men at Iwo Jima raising the United States flag atop of Mount Saribachi.  Two men pressing the pole’s end into the ground, with three other men raise the flag high.  It is said, they raised the flag in hopes it could be seen on the neighboring island, where others were fighting; a sign of victory and encouragement.

Moses stood on a hill with his hands raised high as Joshua and his army battled the Amaleks below.  As Long as Moses’ hands were lifted high Joshua’s army would win, but when his hands were lowered the Amalaks would win.

When the battle was finally over, and the victory won, Moses built an alter to the Lord and named it, “The Lord is My Banner."

Jesus reminds us in John 16:33, “These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you will have peace.  In the world you have tribulation, but take courage; I have overcome the world.”

In all of our tribulations, God buries a pole beside us with His flag of victory waving above our head.  In Christ, you are more than a conqueror.

Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us. For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come, nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.” (Romans 8:37-39)

His banner over you is “Victory,” and His banner over you is “Loved.”

How can we pray for you today?

Finish Well

It has taken me a few months, but I just finished a full edit of Harvesting Hope last night. I found six chapters (out of 15) that either need some re-writes, additional new material, or just some simple finalization and finishing. If God wills, we are just looking at a couple more months before I start actively seeking a publisher for the manuscript. I just posted some specific prayer needs and my current health update over at Stroke of Grace and would be so blessed if you will partner with me in praying that I finish this stage well and that God throws wide open doors with the publisher He has already ordained for this project.

Are You Living Like the Resurrection Fern?

Are You Living Like the Resurrection Fern? - beautiful description of hope in  heartache!
